📌 Job Overview

The Pastry/Bakery Chef is responsible for preparing a wide range of desserts, baked goods, and specialty items while maintaining high standards of quality, presentation, and consistency. This role plays a key part in delivering exceptional dining experiences in an international cruise environment.

🔧 Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present pastries, desserts, breads, and baked products
  • Follow standard recipes and ensure consistency in taste and presentation
  • Manage daily pastry/bakery production and service requirements
  • Maintain hygiene and food safety standards (HACCP compliance)
  • Monitor stock levels and assist in inventory control
  • Ensure proper storage and rotation of ingredients (FIFO method)
  • Collaborate with kitchen team for buffet, à la carte, and special events
  • Supervise and guide junior staff (Commis / DCDP if applicable)

👨‍🍳 Skills & Requirements

  • Diploma/Degree in Bakery & Pastry Arts or Hotel Management preferred
  • 2–5 years of experience in pastry/bakery section (hotel/cruise/production kitchen)
  • Knowledge of international desserts, breads, and baking techniques
  • Creativity and attention to detail in presentation
  • Ability to work under pressure in high-volume production
  • Strong hygiene and safety awareness

🌍 Employment Details

  • Contract duration: 6–9 months (renewable)
  • Work environment: International cruise ship kitchen (galley)
  • Rotational shifts with extended working hours
